Santa Anita Park Recap – Friday, October 24, 2014
Three wire jobs (6f, 8.5f, 6f) on the fast main track. A patient type at 9f and a downhill stalker made up the two turf winners (rail at 30 feet).
Joe Talamo rode three winners. Mike Smith guided home a pair.
I could only muster one Secondary winner (Songforjohnmichael) in what turned out to be a very difficult sequence. The Pick 6 carryover ($34,949) was announced after the 6th race and the winning conso (4 out of 6) paid $1,361.60.

Jarrod Horak’s Early Pick 3 Tickets from Santa Anita Park – Saturday, October 25, 2014
SA 1 (Str-Alw, 5f) #1 MAHALO PRINCESS (7-5) won 2 of her last 3 here and Kayla Stra rides her well. She is training well for Baltas, who also saddles #3 Lust for Life (6-1). The latter won here June 5 and will try to kick it in late. #2 Lindz Winz (2-1) always tries hard and should sit a nice tactical trip. THE PLAYS: Exacta 1/2-3
SA 2 (Mcl-20k, 8f) #8 AFLEET ECHO (2-1) exits back-to-back place finishes vs. this kind and the switch to barn $$ rider Bejarano might do the trick. #4 Sheza Dish (8-5) is tagged for the first time and Kitchingman does fine work with this type of layoff runner. #6 Blameitonthecat (7-2) switches surfaces and drops below her claimed price 3rd off the shelf. Her lone on the board finish was a tagged outing last year and she has been facing better since. #3 Beth’s My Babe (7-2) has not been seen in quite some time but is training well for this. THE PLAYS: #8 to win, Exacta 8/3-4-6, Exacta 3-4-6/8
SA 3 (Str-Alw, 8f) #5 AWE GEE (6-1) improved dramatically in his last pair on dirt and Bejarano takes the call. #7 Shezapiranha (3-1) owns an ascending numbers pattern and gets much needed class relief after hooking Her Emmynency on turf last time. Nakatani hops aboard the late threat. #2 Midnight Candy (5-2) exits a smart course-distance maiden score and she has blossomed with added ground. Low profile trainer Becerra has her now and she might be this good. THE PLAYS: #5 to win, Exacta 5/2-7, Exacta 2-7/5
